The Barbour Northumbria jacket is made with heavyweight Barbour 8oz sylkoil fabric. This classic Northumbria has a pure cotton Barbour tartan lining.

The Northumbria's Corduroy collar is studded to fit the optional hood which is also listed on this web site. The corduroy collar also works well with the pewter wildlife badges in our gifts section.

Other features of the Northumbria jacket include;

Two large bellows pockets.
Two handwarmer pockets.
Wind cuffs with velcro fastening.
Zipped wallet pocket.
Two washable, detachable inside game pockets.
Interactive with zip-in liners.

Long length is what differentiates the Northumbria from the others in the range, 38-39 inches (97-99cm.).

'Received today thanks. Size 42 much better - still plenty space for my chest size 46”.

Looking at the Barbour Sizing guide, 46 chest equates to a 38 size and they recommend 4-6 inch wiggle room taking it to a size 42

A HISTORY LESSON: - First came the Original jackets. These were made from 4oz waxed cotton, initially in sage green and then in navy, black and rustic brown too. Then after the turn of the century, Barbour realised that some people liked their jackets best when they looked as though they had already owned them for years.

So they started making the Classic range in slightly heavier 6oz sylkoil. These jackets were made in olive green (a brownish green, as opposed to the earlier bluish sage green). To give the jackets a slightly distressed look they put the fabric through one fewer waxing procedure – hence the Classic was born.

No longer did our customers have to drive over their new jackets with their tractors, to make them look as though they had owned them for years.
